BJP state president Dilip Ghosh courted controversy on Sunday by threatening to shoot and kill those involved in damaging public property “like the same way in Uttar Pradesh”.
Addressing a public meeting in West Bengal’s Nadia district, Ghosh came down heavily on Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee “for not opening fire and ordering lathicharge” on those destroying railway property and public transport during the anti-Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) protests in the state in December last year.
“Who do they think the public property that they are destroying belongs to? Their father? Public property belongs to the taxpayers. You (Mamata) do not say anything because they are your voters. In Assam and Uttar Pradesh, our government has shot these people like dogs,” Ghosh said.
“Is it the father’s property of those who are setting public property on fire? How can they destroy government property built on tax payers’ money!” Ghosh said.
He said, “The governments of Uttar Pradesh, Assam and Karnataka did the right thing by opening fire on these anti-national elements (during anti-CAA protests).”
He said, “Recognize the people who are opposing the Hindus as well as the Bengalis. There are about one crore people, who feed on our money.”
The BJP leader said those involved in arson and damaging public property will be shot “like the same way in Uttar Pradesh”.
“They will come here, enjoy all the facilities and destroy country’s property. Is it their zamindari!” he asked. Ghosh also called for identifying those “sabotaging the interests” of Hindu Bengalis.
He said, “Mamata Banerjee got the votes of 50 lakh illegal immigrants out of 70 lakh. If these people go away, her votes will go below 2 crore. We will go beyond 2.5 crore. In 2021, we will win 200 seats, she will not even win 50 seats. Then she will have to come down from Nabanna to Kalighat and worship Goddess Kali. We are making the roadmap for it. Refugees have been tortured and brutally treated by the cpim government in Marichjhapi. These people were tortured by the governments on either side of the border. The Bengali Hindus for whom Shyama Prasad Mukherjee made Bengal they have to live every moment in terror.”
He claimed that there are two crore “Muslim infiltrators” in the country. “One crore alone is in West Bengal and Mamata Banerjee is trying to protect them,” he alleged.
